Remembering Mark Pacione

Mark Pacione, longtime retreat leader, supervisor, friend, and supporter of the House, died suddenly on December 29. Mark first came to the House as a young person, and lead retreats here from the 1970’s to the present.  As director of the Office of Youth Ministry for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, which later became the Division of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, he oversaw our operations and served on our Board from the mid-80’s until 2009.  In this capacity he supervised and supported the directors of the house, and worked tirelessly for the needs of the House.  Most recently...

50th Anniversary Concert with Matt Maher

Our 50th anniversary concert for youth and young adults featuring Catholic performer and recording artist MATT MAHER – which was  in collaboration with the Division of Youth and Young Adult Ministry to celebrate the 225th Anniversary of the Archdiocese, was a big hit!  For the show on Sunday, September 21 at Loyola Blakefield we had great weather, and a big community of believers who sang along with Matt in songs of praise and worship to God.  It was an awesome day! Special thanks to all who attended,  the committee who planned it,  the volunteers who helped made it happen that...

O’Dwyer promised it would be, and we are grateful to you for supporting his enduring legacy that got its start back in 1963. Retreat fees provide only a percentage of...

O’Dwyer Stories

In the almost 50 year history of the Retreat House, there are literally thousands of stories that can be told by the people who have been here. Many are  stories of faith and personal conversion.  Others are funny stories or stories of friendship or stories of a really good experience here at the House.  We want you to tell those stories about the House, so we can share them with others. How was your experience at the Retreat House special for you? What’s something that happened there that positively affected your life and your faith journey? What’s something good you learned at the...

Service Opportunity with First Fruits Farms

We are very pleased to remind everyone of a wonderful service opportunity for your group when you come to visit. Last year the Archdiocese of Baltimore began a partnership with First Fruits Farms, a nearby volunteer, non-profit ministry dedicated to planting, harvesting, and distributing fruits and vegetables to soup kitchens and food banks in the Baltimore/Washington region. In over ten years their operation has grown to over 150 acres of land under cultivation in Freeland, MD (about 20 minutes north of the Retreat House,) and last year added 25 acres of land owned by the Archdiocese which...
